HWPL and IPYG

Organizations affiliated to IPYG will engage in collaborative projects throughout the year, meeting once or twice annually to participate in youth conferences, meetings and summits aimed at developing practical and sustainable solutions to the challenges facing us in the pursuit of peace.
We recognize that is  only with all of our seemingly small efforts combined that we can begin to see bring results, and IPYG Peace Projects aim to involve the youth community, and bring about a sense of unity, and team work for the greater cause.

HWPL Alliance of Religions Meeting

A LARGE INTERNATIONAL PEACE SUMMIT FOR THE ALLIANCE OF RELIGIONS HELD IN CARSON, CALIFORNIA

Having spent most of my childhood growing up in Carson, California, I was happy for the opportunity to return years later for Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL)’s Alliance of Religions: Peace Summit of the Americas. Held on December 6th  at the Carson Community Center, HWPL gathered hundreds of people from various faiths and backgrounds to champion peace in our world. Led by HWPL Chairman Man H. Lee and its partner organizations International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG), headed by Chairwoman Kim Nam Hee, and International Peace Youth Group (IPYG), the event served to unite peoples and cultures to pave a way toward a peaceful future for our world. The Alliance of Religion Peace Summit is a part of Chairman Lee’s 16th world tour to speak with religious and political leaders about the need for an international law regarding world peace and cessation of war.

As the day began, the community center was abuzz with participants eagerly checking in and finding their seats with the help of the event’s many volunteers. Bright banners and posters displayed messages of peace and highlighted the unity of all faiths. As we all congregated in the main hall, opening remarks were heard from the summit’s keynote speakers including Cristina Eugenia Reyes Hidalgo, Senator of the National Assembly of Ecuador; Fernando Meza, Congressman of Chile; and Congressman Alan Lowenthal of the 47th district of California. Each speaker discussed how the struggle for peace impacted his or her constituents stressing their commitment to Chairman Lee’s vision for worldwide peace.
One of the major highlights of the summit was an inspiring video showcasing the WARP (World Alliance of Religions Peace) Summit held in South Korea this past September. The 3-day international conference brought together thousands of people from all over the world to discuss the challenges and solutions for world peace, including the role of women and youth in peace efforts. The WARP summit’s opening ceremony alone brought together religious leaders from all over the world and 80,000 international attendees including current and former prime ministers, presidents, and chief justices. Noted as one of the first international peace gatherings of this size and scope, the WARP summit was acknowledged as an important watershed moment for HWPL and its growing worldwide peace movement.
After the WARP Summit video the audience finally heard from HWPL’s Chairman Man H. Lee. With the aid of multiple translators for the multilingual audience, Chairman Lee enthusiastically explained his and HWPL’s vision for world peace. Chairman Lee, an 84 year old Korean War veteran, promised to do everything he could to achieve world peace but also stressed that harmony among our varied nations required people of all faiths to reject division and come together. Chairwoman Kim Nam Hee, head of International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG), also spoke echoing HWPL’s mission of peace declaring that all women play a vital role in realizing global peace.

Mayor of Carson, Jim Dear
To demonstrate support of Chairman Lee’s vision for peace Carson Mayor Jim Dear and Carson Mayor Pro-Tempore Elito Santarina made Chairman Man H. Lee and Chairwoman Nam Hee Kim honorary citizens of Carson, California. Dear and Santarina also declared that May 25th in Carson, California will annually be celebrated as Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) Day. May 25th was chosen as HWPL Day to commemorate HWPL’s first Declaration of Peace.
Chairman Lee and Chairwoman Kim then invited summit participants to show our united commitment to peace by signing an Agreement of Solidarity with HWPL. By signing the peace agreement with HWPL participants, it expressed the desire to take the message of peace to the world and bring the light of hope to all people without partiality.
The event closed with a finale performance of youth and religious leaders singing hand-in-hand “We are the World.” People reached across the aisle to join together in one voice, expressing a desire to see worldwide peace in our lifetime a reality. Attendees left inspired and were encouraged to consider what role they might play in achieving genuine peace in our world..

What were the objectives of WARP 2014?

WARP Summit Africa 2015

In September 2014 HWPL, the parent organisation of IPYG, hosted the World Alliance of Religions: Peace Summit in Seoul, South Korea.  Governmental and religious leaders, youth organizations, and women groups gathered to attend the world’s largest peace summit, where a sustainable solution to peace was presented, as well as methods and programs for the cessation of war.
The Summit was held at the Gate of Peace, Jamsil Sports Complex Stadium and 63 Building Convention Centre. Approximately 200,000 people attended. Among those attending were 1,500 leaders including international heads of states and leading representatives of world religions such as Catholicism, Protestantism, Eastern Orthodox Church, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism, as well as organizations working in collaboration with the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) and the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG). Over 100 national broadcasting companies from around the world also covered the events of the WARP summit.
A delegation of 40 South African leaders from various spheres of society also attended the summit including Former South African President, Honourable Kgalema Motlanthe, HRH Queen Mother Semane Molotlegi from the Royal Bafokeng and representatives from the National Interfaith Council of South Africa (NICSA).
The outcomes of this Summit were two agreements which were signed by more than 2,000 VIP guests at one sitting: “The Agreement to propose the Enactment of an International Law for the Cessation of War” and the “Agreement for the Alliance of Religions” to bring about inter-faith harmony. Participants have gone back to their countries and are working closely together with HWPL to find practical ways to make these two agreements a reality in their regions.
This WARP Summit and Chairman Lee will now come to African soil. Africa is a continent rich in resources, embedded with gold and crowned with ivory. A land where great men like Archbishop Desmond Tutu and President Nelson Mandela fought for the peace of the people of South Africa which resonated to inspire the rest of Africa and the world. However, peace has not yet been achieved. The continent is one which is still plagued with religious wars, a lack of cohesion between peoples and culture, underlying racism and xenophobia. Being the cradle where life was birthed and where diversity, culture and traditions are the cornerstone, the International Peace Youth Group will bring together leaders of this generation to discuss these persisting challenges and to find clear objectives and ways forward.
Through collaboration and the uniting of civil society, religious leaders and interfaith movements, the government sector, youth leaders and women leaders, the International Peace Youth Group believe that this reality is one which can be achieved together.

About HWPL

Declaration of World Peace
Officially proclaimed at 5.25 Peace Walk at the Peace Gate, the Declaration of World Peace is HWPL’s vision for sustainable peace

"The Heavens and the Earth formed by the hands of the Creator have been given to humanity as an inheritance.
In all the universe, life in its vast splendor exists only on our world.
The life that grows on the earth is sustained from above - by light, by the rain, and by the air they provide unconditionally to all living beings.
We have received the precious gift of life from above, let us give glory to heaven, and live in peace on earth. This is the truest teaching of heaven.
With this eternal gift - the grace and life we have received - are we entitled to fight, kill and destroy one another?
We cannot claim to desire peace and continue to provoke one another, causing conflict for the sake of valuing our own national interests above those of others.
This will only take the lives of the youth, wasting them in the futility of war.
This is not a legacy we can leave to future generations.
Of what use is a young life, born in our day and age, if it is thrown away in this manner - thrown away without having had a chance to bloom?
What price can compensate for the loss of a life?
Do these young souls have another chance at life?
As emissaries of World Peace;
as people who are working towards the restoration of humanity through a new and heavenly culture, we declare the following:
We call on the heads of state of every country to sign an international agreement - a commitment to bringing all wars to an end.
We ask them to do this from a spirit of deep-seated love for the people of their country.
We call on all youth to unite in an effort to stop wars and pursue the restoration of peace by agreeing not to fight one another. For World Peace to become a reality,
this is the duty of all youth, everywhere.
The only way to stop the fighting and pointless, tragic deaths, is to stop fighting.
Nobody can ask for anything greater than this, and know that your efforts - the efforts of the young people of the world today in pursuit of peace - will remain as a never fading light of life for all future generations.
Furthermore, we call on every person, every man, woman, and child in the world, to pick up the mantle of peace.
In whatever way you can, we ask that you work to further the cause of world peace and restoration,
making it a reality in your direct environments.
Lastly, we call on the media to report responsibly and promote a message of peace to the world.
World peace and restoration has begun at the same time this declaration is proclaimed.

HWPL & WARP

Statement of Intent
While it may, in most cases be too simplistic to say that ideological differences based on religion or culture are the cause of war in our world today, it is not too much to say that these differences are exploited to heighten the community's propensity for violent behavior.

Through the World Alliance of Religion' Peace Summit, HWPL seeks to create a forum for dialogue centering on the creation of a commonly acceptable value system between secular and religious communities in all socio-political sectors of our divers societies.

Such a value system will form the basis for the creation of peace agreements and a universally applicable constitution of interfaith relations, as well as education materials which can be used across the spectrum of humanity's diversity to begin revolutionising the basic precepts of our cultures and ideologies which provide the central tenants promoting conflict and violent behavior.

Greetings from the chairman Man Hee Lee from HWPL

Greetings
Greetings to you from all of us here at the Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light ("HWPL") headquarters in Seoul. We sincerely hope that you, your loved ones, and the people you share your world with are enjoying peace and good health.

HWPL is an international organization whose mandate it is to see the cessation of wars. It pursues this goal through a number of avenues, namely the International Peace Youth Group ("IPYG"), and the International Women’s Peace Group ("IWPG"). Our work is motivated by a unique vision for peace centering on the establishment of a new and universally applicable set of values. This is the heavenly culture - something which has been promised to man through every religious and ideological ideal.

Our World Peace Delegation, made up of myself as chairman of HWPL, and the directors of IPYG and IWPG, have been traveling around the world meeting with various national and community leaders in both secular and religious fields. During these meetings we have had the pleasure of being able to introduce the philosophy of HWPL to them. Without fail, every leader we have spoken with has pledged themselves in support of our cause, demonstrating their desire to be a part of HWPL’s work through a signed agreement of solidarity.

Most notably, HWPL was proud to play its part in the signing of an interfaith peace agreement between two religious communities on the Philippine island of Mindanao. As a result, a 40 year conflict is now finally coming to an end. This, along with all our other volunteer activities and events are widely broadcast by media all over the world. And these things are just the beginning. With a peace agreement being reached such as the one between the two religious communities in Mindanao, we believe that the world is seeing the dawning of a new era of peace, one which sees a World Alliance of Religions.

Such an alliance of ideologies which until now have been central to an untold number of conflicts would enable us to leave a legacy of peace and life to future generations instead of the death and war which now besets our world. Is this not the most important task any of us can accomplish in our lives?

To this end, HWPL is hosting the Summit for the World Alliance of Religions in Seoul, South Korea this year, and it is my great honor to invite you to come and join us for this historic event.

This is the time for us to come together and unite as one family of humanity; to lay aside our differences, and find ways to bridge the rifts between our ideologies. Regardless of our personal views on the matter, religion is a powerful motivating force in our world. Its power to be used for either peace or hate-mongering is undeniable. I humbly ask you, therefore, to consider this invitation favorably, and to join us for the Summit. Your input would be most valuable to all who attend.

May we all stand together as messengers of peace, and see the dawning of a day in which there is no more war.

Thank you.

The Inca community signs HWPL Peace Agreement

As part of his world peace tours, Mr. Man Hee Lee, chairman of HWPL, signed a peace agreement with the Guatemalan government in 2013, as well as with the leader of the Maya community. This year, the same agreement was entered into by a leading representative of the Inca community. During his 9th tour for peace, Mr. Man Hee Lee signed a peace agreement with a leader of 14 million descendants of the Incas in Lima, Peru.

Mr. Lee's vision of peace is for the agreement to be signed by representatives of all cultures, religions, ethnic groups, and governments in the world, thus providing common grounds on which resolutions for conflicts, and ultimately the cessation of wars can be achieved. With each new meeting, entire communities are showing their support for the movement by signing this agreement - a sign that Mr. Lee's message is one that truly resonates with the hearts of the people.

Since 2012, Mr. Lee has been traveling world meeting with notable leaders in both secular and religious circles. On his 9th trip, he held talks with the vice-president of Peru, Ms. Marisol Espinoza in Lima, Peru who also signed the peace agreement. Following that he met with the former presidents of Guatemala - Mr. Alvaro Colom Caballeros, and Colombia - Belisario Betancur, in Bogota, Colombia. In Chile he met with the former president Mr. Ricardo Lagos in Santiago, Chile. His Excellency, Mr. Jose Mujcia, the President of Uruguay met with Mr. Lee in Montevideo, Uruguay. During his talks with the leaders, the peace advocate urged each of them to help bring an end to wars and conflicts still besetting their countries and neighbors.

Peace Activity

SEOUL—Governmental and religious leaders, youth organizations, and women groups gather to attend the world’s largest peace summit held in the Republic of South Korea, where a sustainable solution to peace will be presented, as well as methods and programs for the cessation of war.

A question was posed to Mr. Lee in a press conference held before the first day: "The Middle East is a region rife with religious wars and conflicts. Is it possible to achieve peace here as in Mindanao, Philippines?” Mr. Lee responded, “Just because peace is achieved in the Middle East does not mean world peace is achieved. Rather than considering an issue that is confined to only one region, we need to resolve the fundamental problem that has its roots worldwide. Therefore, heads of state around the world must come to an agreement to establish an international law that bans war so that all wars come to an end permanently.” Mr. Lee is a global peace advocate and the Chairman of Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) as well as IPYG and IWPG.

His visit provided an opportunity to strengthen the alliance for peace formed during previous meetings.

An Introduction to HWP

interfaith_sml

Greetings

We live in exciting times. Never before has humanity faced a time such as this - a time when our deepest desire for peace has been as fully realisable. Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (“HWPL”) has been created for a just such a time. For the past two years I have been traveling around the world meeting community leaders, both secular and religious, to discuss ways in which we can work together in pursuit of peace.
As a result of our many hours of meeting and traveling, the HWPL Solidarity Agreement was born. This is an agreement made between individual leaders of communities and HWPL; an agreement to work together in as many ways as we can to bring about peace and the cessation of wars.
Most recently, this agreement stood at the center of the peace process in Mindanao, a region in the Philippines which has experienced the bitterness of an etho-religious conflict for the past 40 years. Leaders from all walks of life, from different philosophies, academic and cultural backgrounds, and from diverse nations have agreed to work together in creating what is to be a most remarkable legacy to leave to the generations which will follow us.
In Korea we have a story about how a king once gave an elephant to one of his most lowly servants as a gift. The poor servant felt that he did not have the resources available to care for such a large gift, but what could he do? Certainly, he could not refuse the gift from the king. In the same way, the burden of creating peace in the world will at some time be given to a generation. No doubt, whichever generation it comes to would feel as though it is ill-equipped to carry out the work of this seemingly enormous task. The reality is, however, that if we have to power to do it, and we choose not to, we cannot claim to have lived up to our true potential. Nor can we claim that we did well in our lifetimes.
I have no doubt that this is the time for peace, and we - the generation of today - are the ones who have the power to make it a reality.
Join us in making peace a reality in our world, and let us leave to the generations that come after us a legacy of unity, hope, peace and security.
May peace be with you, your loved ones, and your nations, always.

Man Hee Lee,
Chairman, Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light

HWPL In Europe

Europe is one of the most active and prolific regional branches of HWPL, with the most number of signees of the Peace Agreement hailing from this region, including the Former Chancellor of Austria, Dr. Alfred Gusenbauer and the Former Prime Minister of Slovakia, Ivata Radicova. With the abundant history and cultural influence of Europe, HWPL has sought to involve both the religious, political and non-profit spheres within Europe in seeking solutions for peace.

In 2014, HWPL held a peace conference in the historical St. Nicolas Church in Leipzig, Germany, which led out to the streets of Germany for a candle-lit peace walk. In the past, HWPL was actively involved in several conferences hosted by UNESCO and the Supreme Court of Montenegro, among others; and notably, in 2014, HWPL partnered with the Institute of Cultural Diplomacy (ICD), marking the beginning of many peacebuilding efforts.

Europe boasts one of the most diverse regions in the world and perhaps one of the most sophisticated and complex political and religious structures. HWPL has worked with the Institute of Cultural Diplomacy based in Europe to facilitate the collaboration of former and current heads of states across internal and external borders within Europe. On July 9, 2014, the Montenegro Symposium on Cultural Diplomacy and Human Rights co-hosted by the Supreme Court of Montenegro and ICD in Cetinje, Montenegro invited the HWPL Chairman as the keynote speaker. Earlier in the year, in April, the HWPL Chairman also delivered a keynote speech at the ICD symposium at the Roman Senate in Italy.

Man Hee Lee speak with religious leaders

Mr. Man Hee Lee Advances Towards A Peaceful Unification Of The Korean Peninsula And The Cessation Of Wars Around The World

Mr. Man Hee Lee, a world peace advocate, the Chairman of Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), and the initiator for the cessation of a 40-year conflict in Mindanao, Philippines, along with Ms. Nam Hee Kim, the Chairwoman of the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG), recently embarked on a peace journey to Romania, a country that recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of the fall of communism, to address the topic of the peaceful unification of the Korean peninsula and cessation of wars around the world.

Mr. Lee arrived on the 19th at the Otopeni Airport in Bucharest. He met the current religious leaders at the Conference Room in Bucharest Hilton Hotel and sought for their collaboration for the unity of religions. Attending were religious leaders by the name of Hassan Chalghoumi, RachidBirbach, Eric Max Gozlan, Ali Abi Issa, Mohamed Montaser Abdelaziz, Sheikh Ramzy, Murat Yusuf, RavAvimelech Rosenblatt, NatanTapliashvili, PéterFeldmájer—all from seven countries (France, Spain, Morocco, Tunisia, England, Romania, and Poland).

On the 20th, the second day, a dialogue with the youth and religious leaders took place at the Senate Hall of the Palace of the Parliament. Mr. Lee emphasized the enactment of the international law for world peace and cessation of wars and unity of religions.Following the dialogue, Mr. Lee met Romanian judicial officers, such as Judge PetreLazaroiu, one of the nine judiciaries of the Constitutional Court of Romania who hold the authority to adjudicate on the constitutionality of laws and guard the procedure for the election of the President of Romania. They discussed the roles of the legal circles in achieving world peace and cessation of wars.

Mr. Lee and Ms. Kim were invited to attend the pre-inauguration ceremony of president-elect Klaus Ionhannis on the 21st at the Senate Hall. Mr. Lee was the very first Korean to be officially invited as a distinguished guest at the ceremony. Both leaders delivered their speech concerning the peaceful unification of the Korean peninsula.

Aware of the previous national changes in Romania, Mr. Lee sought advice from the former president Emil Constantinescu and 25 other former and current presidents regarding the peaceful unification of the Korean peninsula. Mr. Lee also asked for their collaboration with HWPL, IWPG, and theInternational Peace Youth Group (IPYG)to achieve this peaceful unification as well asthe cessation of wars and world peace. These contents were aired on the Romanian national television.

During Mr. Lee’s speech on “the necessity of a peaceful policy for the unification of the Korean peninsula,” he introduced HWPL as an organization that “strives for the enactment of the international law for cessation of wars across the entire world.” He added that “South and North Korea have made a cease-fire agreement due to the difference in ideologies and philosophies. To avoid this kind of situation, where a nation stands divided, we must push for an enactment of an international law that brings wars to an end.”

Mr. Lee continued, “I want to reveal that one of the many peace activities that HWPL is striving for is the very work of establishing a peaceful system in the Korean peninsula.” “A true democracy is when a government exists for the people. All citizens desire a peaceful world. Therefore, world peace is the highest feat that democracy can possibly achieve.”

HWPL: Remembering 1st Annual Declaration of World Peace

1st Annual Declaration of World Peace was observed May 25, 2013 at the Seoul Olympic Park.  As 2015 May is fast approaching,  I wanted to share the memory of the event 2 years ago.

Daejeon

Heavenly Culture and World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) has astonished the world once again by hosting the event, the 1st Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace. The declaration was made before the International Youth Peace Walk at the Seoul Olympic Park on May 25, 2013 with approximately 20,000 international youths gathered from 130 different countries. As the Peace Walk was held with the hope of world peace and unification of the Korean Peninsula, it has touched many people’s hearts around the globe. To remember this unforgettable event, this year the commemoration event was held at many districts of South Korea including the Busan UN Peace Park, the Seoul Olympic Park, Daejeon, Daegu, Gwangju, and Jeonbuk. People who attended the event were able to experience the inspiration they felt last year when they heard the Declaration of World Peace. This event was especially meaningful since it was hosted in a country that has been experiencing the longest truce in the history of the world
