International Law

Chairman Lee of HWPL, Chairwoman Kim of IWPG and the Peace Delegation have dedicated their efforts to take world peace tours to urge the need of drafting and implementing an article in the international law for cessation of wars and world peace.

During the trips taken after WARP Summit 2014, they have continued to appeal to the world leaders to draft an article on convention on the renunciation and cessation of wars and international armed conflicts. Most notably, Chairman Lee delivered a keynote speech on 'The importance of a Peaceful Policy for the Unification of the Korean Peninsula' at the conference commemorating the 25th anniversary for the fall of communism. He further addressed the necessity of international collaboration to bring peaceful resolution to end armed conflicts at 2015 UN Peace Resolution.

Continuing to create the platform for all groups wanting peace, Chairman Lee reminded the participants the importance of drafting an article in the international law for peace at the 15th International Conference of Chief Justices of the World (ICCJW) in Lucknow, India, Moreover, at the Inauguration ceremony of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) in Manila, Philippines, he emphasized the role of policy makers and law officials in establishing peace in their region and in the world.

Having seen the sincerity in his powerful messages, many world leaders have become the members of HWPL's Peace Advisory Council, pledging to work for the proposal on convention on the cessation of wars and international armed conflicts to give their unsparing support in bringing forth the permanent peace.

Chairman Lee and his delegation served as the bridge to connect among officials whose hearts for humanity and their pursuit of peace drive their actions for peace. The world is yet to see the results and performance of their greater collaborative efforts in seeking and implementing peaceful resolutions.

Bearing fruits of their endless efforts, at the 1st Annual Commemoration of September 18th WARP Summit, HWPL aims to present the first draft of the convention on the renunciation and cessation of wars and international armed conflicts, prepared by its Peace Advisory Council. Through presenting such convention, HWPL hopes to strengthen its awareness and discuss the way forward. The 1st annual commemorative event will make huge strides and bring the new wave of peace.

On May 25th 2015, Esmael “Toto” G. Mangudadatu Governor of Maguindanao passed the legislation to proclaim January 24^th of every year to be remembered and commemorated as ‘HWPL day’ of Maguindanao, a day of peace.

‘1.24 Mindanao Peace Agreement day’ or ‘HWPL day’ in Maguindanao, Philippines aims to commemorate the historic moment of signing peace agreement between Catholic and Islam representatives mediated by Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL to end 40-year conflict in Mindanao.

Afterwards, the street once filled with pains and sorrow, was then filled with laughter and joy of 3,000 youths marching for the International Peace Youth Walk Festival.

Legislation of January 24^th as ‘HWPL day’ is the extension of designating HWPL day in many regions around the world like Carson and Alexandria cities in United States and Bafokeng nation in South Africa. Acknowledging the work of peace HWPL is pursuing to truly bring World Peace, many regions are joining to legislate ‘HWPL day’ to celebrate a day of peace.

On the last day of the summit, approximately 30,000 people including 650 youth group members from 140 different nations participated in a peace walk shouting, "we want peace!" in front of the Peace Gate in Olympic Park in Sonpa-gu, Seoul. Chairman Man Hee Lee said, “God, the creator, has been working up to this day for this event” and added, “Now that the religions are uniting, all creations and humanity are free. Could there be a greater news than this?” The youths from all over the world, who came to the Korean peninsula, where the longest armistice was still in place, agreed with Chairman Lee and exclaimed with a loud applaud.

1st Annual Commemoration of WARP SUMMIT 

Over 30 journalists, reporters, and chief editors from major international broadcasting stations representing 15 countries came to report about the Summit and interview Chairman Lee, of HWPL, and organizing representatives.

Over the course of two days, the Summit feature the presentation of the first draft of the Convention on the Cessation of War and Achievement of World Peace prepared by members of HWPL’s Peace Advisory Council and International Law Committee. Almas Jiwani, Global Ambassador of Peace & epitome of Gender Equality delivered keynote address at the 2015 Women Leaders Conference for World Peace on the occasion of the first annual commemoration of the World Alliance of Religions' Peace Summit.

The host organization of the Summit, Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), is a non-governmental peace organization registered under the UN Department of Public Information (DPI). It is at the forefront of peace-building in direct response to international disputes and armed conflicts. The co-organizers of the commemorative event are the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) and International Women's Peace Group (IWPG), both affiliates of HWPL.

Almas Jiwani addressed on the effects of war on women and youth and the necessity for legislation of international law.

Having said that, more should have been done to highlight women and youth as casualties of war that is an unfortunate reality in many countries today. Chairwoman Nam Hee Kim of the IWPG expressed her gratitude towards all global family of peace who are joyfully celebrating the first anniversary of the WARP Summit at the site. She stated, "The world has been changing since the WARP Summit last year. Let us protect all women and youth with love of mothers and bring peace and unity" mentioning the efforts of the implementation of the international convention and the alliance of all religions. Chairwoman Kim emphasized that "countless peace organizations and media around the world joined forces with the IWPG and IPYG, the two supporting wings of HWPL, in committing to the peace movement."

The 1st Annual Commemoration of September 18th WARP Summit has become the pillar of sustainable peace. Women, youth, and world leaders gathered at the opening ceremony in the capital of peace, Seoul, South Korea, to stimulate the implementation of the Convention on the Renunciation and Cessation of War and International Armed Conflicts. This Convention will surely ignite the flame of peace in the hearts of all humanity.

On the 19th, members of the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) and the International Women's Peace Group (IWPG) were in the audience of the conference and panel discussion on the international convention. On the previous day, members of the IPYG and IWPG signed the statement to urge for the implementation of an International Convention on the Cessation of War and Achievement of World Peace. This convention, drafted by the HWPL International Law Peace Committee, addresses the tragedy of lives lost in the midst of wars and conflicts and further states that the majority of those affected are the youth and women. Moreover, it emphasizes the role of the youth and women in achieving peace.

World Alliance of Religions’ Peace Summit

Held just before the UN’s International Day of Peace, the 1st Annual Commemoration of the WARP Summit will serve as a platform for world leaders from all sectors of society to discuss the progress on two major works of HWPL: the Implementation of an International Convention on the Cessation of War and Achievement of World Peace and the establishment of the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace Offices. It expects to highlight September as the “Month of Peace.”

Elizabeth Costales Cachin, a journalist of PTV from the Philippines asked about the purpose of HWPL and the duty of the press and media in stopping armed conflicts and achieving world peace. Chairman Lee said, “First of all, we have to carefully examine what is behind the scenes of armed conflicts. In order to stop wars, a rigid system is needed to bring forth a practical solution for peace. That solution is the international convention on the cessation of war and achievement of world peace. The purpose of HWPL is to bring about the cessation of war and establish peace as an inheritance for future generations. Certainly, world peace will be achieved if all reporters are accountable for accurate reporting standards and continually report on peace.” Chairwoman Kim of the IWPG added, “All reporters and journalists have to become the eyes and mouths of all people to widely deliver the message of peace accurately and quickly. This is the responsibility of the media.”

Suraj Bhattarai, English News Editor of Himalaya Television in Nepal also asked about the roles of IWPG and IPYG in urging the implementation of the convention on the cessation of war. Chairwoman Kim replied, “A bird cannot fly with only one wing. Likewise, IWPG and IPYG serve as the two wings of peace, making it possible for HWPL to soar. We have clearly seen that the development of weapons and armed forces have not guaranteed to bring peace to us. If we continue what we’ve been doing, we will not only inherit a world of war but also the destruction of mankind for our future generations. Therefore, we call women and youth of the world to sign a statement to urge for the implementation of the convention on peace. We will work until the time when we can inherit a sustainable peace as an eternal legacy for our children.”

Over the course of two days, the Summit will feature the presentation of the first draft of the Convention on the Cessation of War and Achievement of World Peace prepared by members of HWPL’s Peace Advisory Council and International Law Committee. The cry of peace! HWPL WARP

HWPL WARP Summit is nearing its one year anniversary.  Private organization such as NGOs  have clearly informed the world that the war q2was a result of religion conflict.  In order to solve the issue and create peace amongst all religions and further prevent people falling victims HWPL has created a world peace summit that was held on September 17, 2015 to September 19, 2014 in the Republic of Korea.

Regardless of race, religion, and ethnicity, HWPL held this summit to achieve peace.  With current and former presidents, religious leaders from all nations, 130 youth groups from various countries, women's organizations and over 200,000 attendees, everyone was able to united with one goal in mind; world peace.  When an individual thinks to take a course of action, it is often difficult to initiate that actions.  However, when the individual comes together and works with others, any goal and action is possible, just like with the HWPL WARP Summit.  

We cannot let religious conflicts destroy the peace i the world, take for example the war in Syria,  We should not just stand by and ignored the shout out of the boy from Syria who said " Stop the war".  Instead we must take action, ad HWPL has successfully accomplished taking action to promote world peace.  Therefore, I hope that more people will take notice of HWPL's peace summit and focus on the actions that HWPL has taken to promote peace around the world.

More than 200,000 Syrian have lost their live in four years of armed conflict.  More than 11 million others have been forced from their homes.  Violence escalated and the country descended into civil war.  Who could compensate for their death?  How can we prevent the war?  HWPL has the answers for that.

While it may, in most cases be too simplistic to say that ideological differences based on religion or culture are the cause of war in our world today, it is not too much to say that these differences are exploited to heighten the community’s propensity for violent behaviour.

Through the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace Summit, HWPL seeks to create a forum for dialogue centring on the creation of a commonly acceptable value-system between secular and religious communities in all socio-political sectors of our divers societies.

Such a value system will form the basis for the creation of peace agreements and a universally applicable constitution of interfaith relations, as well as education materials which can be used across the spectrum of humanity’s diversity to begin revolutionising the basic precepts of our cultures and ideologies which provide the central tenants promoting conflict and violent behaviour.

International Law Conference in Fès, Morocco

Colors the World with the Pigment of Peace For the first time in Morocco

 

  The ‘Morocco International Law Conference’ was held on April 23rd 2015 at the HEC Maroc University in the city of Fès where the whole town is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The conference was co-hosted by an international peace organization Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL, Chairman Man Hee Lee), HWPL’s youth division, International Peace Youth Group (IPYG, Director Du Hyun Kim), and Moroccan Youth Forum (FJM) to propose the enactment of international law for the cessation of war and establishment of world peace.

  Successfully held by an active support of Azzedine Idriss Khamlichi, the president of HEC Maroc University who has participated in the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Summit of HWPL last year, the ‘Morocco International Law Conference’ was attended by influential leaders in various academic and political fields.

  President Khamlichi deeply agreed that more people should take part in the peace movement of HWPL not only for the achievement of peace of one county such as Morocco but peace for the whole world. El Mesbahi Kamal, the professor of economics, Azelarabe Lahkim Bennani, the philosophy professor, Ba Mohamed Najib, the professor from the law department at l’USMBA University and several members of Moroccan Youth Forum (FJM) also voluntarily participated in the conference. 

 

  The conference started off with opening remarks of professor El Mersbahi Kamal followed by a representative speech of President Azzedine Idriss Khamlichi on the theme of ‘Think about Peace.’ Professor Ba Mohamed Najib also spoke about ‘the international law for peace’

 All of the participants watched a video of the WARP Summit the unprecedented international peace festival, held by HWPL last September in Seoul, Korea, which was attended by over 2,000 global leaders. HWPL is a non-governmental peace organization registered under the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It works actively with its affiliates, IPYG and International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG, Chairwoman Nam Hee Kim), striving to bring wars to an end and establish peace all around the world.

  The Morocco International Law Conference was a continuation of the WARP Summit. The signing of the agreement to propose the enactment of an international law involves former heads of state, chief justices, and high officials of United Nations to enact an international law for the cessation of war and establishment of world peace. The signing then calls current heads of state to sign the agreement according to the law that was enacted for the sake of their countries, people, and peace. At the WARP Summit, 28 current and former president and more than 50 high ranking officials signed the agreement to support the enactment of the international law. Likewise, four leaders signed the agreement at the conference in Morocco.

  Chairman Lee and Chairwoman Kim were invited to the commemoration for the 25th anniversary of fall of communism as well as for the election of the new president of Romania in last November and received strong support from over 25 Presidents of Central and Eastern European countries. Moreover, they participated in the 15th International Conference of Chief Justices of the World (ICCJW) held at the City Montessori School(CMS) in Lucknow, India. About 160 heads of state and chief justices of supreme courts of various countries supported the anti war proposal of HWPL.

  Ever since Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL announced the Declaration of World Peace on May 25th , 2013 when 30,000 international members of IPYG led the Peace Walk in front of the World Peace Gate in Seoul, many cities around the world have designated May 25th as the annual HWPL Day. Chairman Lee had emphasized in the Declaration of World Peace that it is necessary to enact the international law for it is a practical mechanism to cease all wars. Following his mindset, cities such as Carson City in California and Royal Bafokeng Nation in Republic of South Africa designated May 25th as HWPL Day and erected the World Peace Monuments.

  Morocco has been acknowledged by the world for minimizing the growing number of terrorists and restraining their activities among the Muslim counties. On this account, it is expected that the collaborative peace activities of HWPL, IPYG, HEC Maroc University, and FJM will be gaining much interest from the public. 

A World Peace Advocate Urges the IBP for the Future of Justice in the Philippines

  Philippine lawyers have a freshly sworn in the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP). The former Executive Vice President Rosario T. Setias-Reyes was appointed as the National President of IBP, replacing Attny.

  Vincente M. Joyas who served the organization from 2013, at the inauguration ceremony held at the Dignitaries Lounge at the Supreme Court on July 7th, 2015. Setias-Reyes is the first female National President of the IBP, the official organization of all Philippine lawyers whose names appear in the Roll of Attorneys of the Supreme Court. IBP’s national board members for 2015-2017 were sworn in before the SC Clerk of Court.

  At the occasion, a group of selected guests were also invited to witness the scene. A Peace Advocate and Chairman of Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (“HWPL”), Mr. Man Hee Lee attended the ceremony and the dinner held afterwards to give a congratulatory message upon the special invitation from IBP along with Chairwoman Nam Hee Kim of International Women’s Peace Group (“IWPG”).

  Chairman Lee, as known his achievement is especially noteworthy in the nation, played a decisive role in ending a 40-year conflict of Mindanao between Catholic and Muslim communities. At the inaugural dinner, Chairman Lee spoke about the significance of the enactment of an international law for the cessation of war and role of judicial officers and urged the national board members of IBP and all judicial leaders to realize the necessity of amending the international law to terminate all wars. He stated that the road blocks in achieving enduring peace within this world is because there is a lack of an international constitutional law to ban wars and war crimes.

  Seeing this matter, Chairman Lee has appealed to world leaders to demonstrate their commitment to peace by signing the enactment of war into international law. “If each nation’s head and leaders desire for world peace and truly love their people, they should work for this amendment and sign on the agreement of the enactment of an international law to cease wars. For the future of justice in the Philippines, all the honorable officers who are here with me today have to urge the nations to participate in establishing a law that prohibits the further producing and developing of weapons. In case if any states violate the law and continues to carry out any non-peaceful activities, a form of penalty and punishment should be applied under an international law,” said Chairman Lee.

  Chairwoman Kim also called on the officers present especially woman leaders to actively work for peace by saying “Numerous international agreements and principles for peace have been drawn up and ratified until today. However, war and civil unrest have not stopped in this world. The only way to define the right framework for the nations to bring forth peace is Chairman Lee’s initiative on the enactment of an international law for peace. We, the women, have the responsibility to protect our husbands, children, and our neighbors.” 

  President Setias-Reyes acknowledged the tremendous efforts of two Chairpersons for the last several years, visiting nations and promoting the need of the implementation of the law for peace. As she became the new President, Setias-Reyes agreed to serve as the member of HWPL’s Peace Advisory Council to work for and bring forth such enactment. In the mean time, in his latest visit in the Philippines in late May this year, Mr. Lee has already met the former President Attny. Joyas with a few prominent political and judicial leaders through a private meeting arranged in Manila. Attny. Joyas, who has served as the member of HWPL’s Peace Advisory Council since then, again expressed his support in assisting Mr. Lee’s proposal on the enactment of an international constitution to permanently end wars and conflicts and will further collaborate with international lawmakers to implement the proposal.

  The value of precious lives and resources destroyed in war are a result of decisions made by individuals and these individuals make justifications for their actions to continue to practice war crimes in many parts of the world. As the IBP officers have agreed and pledged to protect citizens and villages of the Philippines through advising and supporting HWPL in the amendment process, it is realized that peace has come one step closer.

Journalists, Media Analysts Meet In South Africa To Discuss Global Peace

On August 17, over 30 journalists, commissioning editors and news analysts gathered to share their views and ideas to understand their role in peace building. Under the theme of ‘The Role of the Media in peace building’, this was the very first Heavenly Culture, World Peace, and Restoration of Light (HWPL) Media Forum on African soil which was held in collaboration with the national broadcaster, South African Broadcast Commission (SABC), more specifically SABC TV Religion.

With the example of fellow news broadcasters from across the globe who have undertaken the role of HWPL publicity ambassadors, the media representatives from both print and broadcast engaged in dialogue with one goal – reporting the work of peace accurately. Guest speakers included the Head of SABC TV Religion Ms. Yashika Sigh, news analyst Mr. Zanele Mashinini, and producer from iTV Ms. Aadila Amod who were joined by members of the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG).

During the course of this year, social hostility concerning religion increased significantly with terrorist groups such as misrepresented religious groups, causing a great concern for the protection of youth and women. Having joined Chairman of HWPL Mr. Man Hee Lee’s peace movement since the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Summit in 2014, Ms. Yashika Singh said, “I enjoyed the opportunity to engage with different media, both print and broadcast. It is interesting to meet people that think the way that we do, that want to promote peace, to promote human values. I think it is not always easy to find those kind of journalists…” and added, “[Chairman Lee] has challenged people to start thinking differently and this is the first step to opening up dialogue.”

Following the speeches, participants listened to the HWPL representative who shared Mr. Lee’s message to the press and media of the world. This message powerfully stated that “The souls of the youth that have been sacrificed in wars are pleading. All creation is groaning,” and appealed, “Let us become messengers of peace, achieve world peace and the cessation of wars, and leave it as a legacy for future generations.”

On the day, Mr. Zanele Mashinini and Ms. Aadila Amod were appointed as HWPL Publicity Ambassadors. He expressed that peace is very important and said that, “What the Chairman is doing for Africa, and the world, is a priceless gift. We need to get the world calm and achieve harmony and live in peace. If God has given us an individual who is taking this mammoth task, it’s not going to be easy. We know brokering peace is not easy.”

After declaring the Declaration of World Peace in Seoul, South Korea on May 25, 2013, Mr. Lee, together with Ms. Nam Hee Kim, the Chairwoman of International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) have been working fervently towards the enactment of drafting an article on convention on renunciation and cessation of war and international armed conflicts as well as the unity of religion. Transcending boundaries, races, and religions, these two peace activists are changing the course of history as they gather leaders and media around the globe for these two purposes.

The first HWPL Media Forum in SA in collaboration with SABC TV Religion is the first of many. It is expected to have a positive effect on peace building in South Africa, the African Continent as well as the entire world.

On 19 September 2014, at 11 AM, Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL, Chairman Man Hee Lee) hosted the Walk for the World Alliance of Religions and World Peace at the Peace Gate of the Olympic Park in commemoration of the successful hosting of the 2014 World Alliance of Religion’s Peace (WARP) Summit and the signing of the peace agreement between 12 religions the day before. Over 200,000 people from all around the world participated in the Walk and celebrated the beginning of a new era of peace.

The day before, political leaders including 15 former heads of state representing countries around the world and more than 600 religious leaders representing each religion participated in the signing of the peace agreement. Also, the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) and the International Youth Peace Group (IPYG), which Mr. Lee has stressed are the means to achieve world peace, agreed to the idea of the Declaration of World Peace and signed the peace agreement with a determination to join the work of peace. The Walk which was held on the following day commemorated the fact the WARP Summit did not end up as a perfunctory event, but it became the foundation for achieving a world of peace.

At the opening ceremony of the Walk, Mr. Lee said in his message, “Yesterday was the time for religions to unite as one. Now, only one thing remains. Let us achieve world peace by enacting an international law for the cessation of wars. In celebration of yesterday’s achievement, let us have a festival under the Creator,” and urged for efforts to bring about world peace together. Also, Ms. Nam Hee Kim, the chairwoman of IWPG, asked young people around the world to join Mr. Lee’s work for peace, saying, “Yesterday, all participants promised to work for peace, so let us all become the entities of peace.”

When Mr. Lee proclaimed the beginning of the Walk with his powerful voice, approximately 200,000 people, led by the youth of IPYG, began to walk shouting “World Peace.” Throughout the Walk, the youth dressed in traditional clothes of each country gave performances, celebrating the signing of the interfaith peace agreement the day before and expressing the wish for peace.

At the press conference held at the Olympic Parktel on the same day, Mr. Lee presented the achievements of the WARP Summit to the reporters in attendance and urged them to report this news as it is. Also, there was a session where he answered the reporters’ questions on practical ways to achieve peace.

International Peace Advocate Mr Lee Visits Japan

On the 70th Anniversary of the end of World War II, South Korean peace advocate and Chairman of Heavenly Culture World Peace Restoration of Light (HWPL) Mr. Man Hee Lee made a 3-day visit to Japan, following his visit to China. Amongst the topics of discussion during his meetings with Chinese and Japanese leaders were the recent territorial disputes within Asia and the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.

While in China, Mr. Lee was awarded the ‘Peace Advocate of World Peace’ award from the Vice President of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Zhang Meiying.
Addressing women’s groups, youth groups, cultural and religious leaders in Japan, Chairman Lee spoke on the theme of The Source to Achieve World Peace.

“If each nation’s heads and leaders desire for world peace and love their people, they should sign the cessation of war into international law and sign the peace agreement, affirming that they will cooperate to achieve peace” said Chairman Lee. Following the speech, the peace agreement was unanimously signed by attending leaders.

Nearly the end of the meetings with leaders, Pema Gyalpo, the professor of law in Toin University of Yokohama, who is also known as the founder of GIFT (Global Issues Forum) rushed to meet Mr. Man Hee Lee after his trip from India. He showed respect to Mr. Lee for his diligent work for peace and shared many common grounds with him as a veteran himself. After their conversation, the professor suggested to act as advisor for the international law that the Chairman is pursuing. He also decided to sign the peace agreement and agreed to participate ‘World Alliance of Religions: Peace Summit 2014’ hosted by HWPL on this coming September.

Furthermore, Chairman Lee also met with the International Buddhist Congregation (IBC) in Japan. Among the topics addressed during their meeting was the critical role of religion. He also spoke on the importance of the peace agreement as a commitment to continue mutual cooperation for peace, “Practical evidence is necessary such as the peace agreement of Mindanao Island” said Chairman Lee. Afterwards, the Chairwoman of the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Nam Hee Kim emphasized the need for international cooperation through cultural events and meetings. She addressed young women leaders, calling them to actively work for peace.

Last January, Mr. Lee mediated a peace agreement in the war-torn region of Mindanao, Philippines, where regional religious tension between Catholics and Muslims has led to over 10,000 casualties. Working with the citizens of the Philippine city Zamboanga, Chairman Lee organized a Peace Walk that gathered over 12,000 participants—a bold proclamation that world peace is possible.

Mr. Lee is now currently on his 14th world tour, having visited 54 countries. Media stations like Korea Today, Asia News Agency and Dongyang Economic News documented and broadcasted the news of Mr. Lee’s Northeast Asia visit.
